Olafur Eliasson at Stalke Galleri (1990–2008)

Olafur Eliasson began his collaboration with Stalke Galleri as early as 1988, initially working as an assistant. In those early years, he played a significant role in the development of the gallery – both practically and artistically – particularly in shaping the visionary exhibition project Stalke Out of Space. Here, he participated not only as an artist but also as a curator, including with the conceptual project 17:00 CET.

From 1993 and forward, Olafur Eliasson held several solo exhibitions at Stalke Galleri, and many of his early works were both exhibited and sold through the gallery. The collaboration culminated in his final major solo exhibition at Stalke in 2002 in Kirke Sonnerup, titled “The View That Never Thinks”, where he presented a series of photographic works.

In the years following, Olafur Eliasson continued to engage with Stalke through participation in two curated group exhibitions: one in 2003 curated by Gunnar Örn, and another in 2008 curated by Sam Jedighimself. His contributions to both exhibitions underscored the ongoing connection to the gallery and its experimental platform.

This page and the archive gather documentation from this long-standing collaboration: exhibition history, photographs, catalogues, and original works – serving as a testament to a defining period in his career, where ideas, materials, and spatial experimentation began to take shape.
