Cube Projected is an ongoing art project by Sam Jedig, in which the cube functions both as a sculpture and a framework for performative and social actions in landscapes and urban environments. The cube – often a lightweight aluminum construction – is temporarily placed in fields, forests, mountains, or gallery spaces, where it responds to its surroundings: wind, light, gravity, and human interaction.
The project merges land art, social sculpture, and conceptual art. Audiences are invited to participate physically and sensorially – children crawl into the cube, adults carry it, or it gradually disappears into the cycles of nature. By placing the geometrically rigid form into unpredictable settings, Cube Projected invites reflection on the relationship between culture and nature, object and experience, individual and community.
As an extension of the project, other artists are also invited to work with the cube format in Stalke Galleri’s special cube room, where they are challenged to interpret, activate, or deconstruct the strict geometry of the space through their own artistic approaches.
