Stalke Kunsthandel opens Friday, January 10, from 5 PM to 8 PM, with a solo exhibition of new works by the Icelandic painter:

Gunnar Örn


Gunnar Örn was born in Iceland in 1946.

His first solo exhibition was in Reykjavik in 1970. Since then, he has been extensively active, participating in 33 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions worldwide.


In 1985, Gunnar Örn met Edward Fry and Achim Moeller, after which he held his first solo exhibition in New York. Among other works, he sold The Great Dream to The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

In 1985, Gunnar Örn represented Iceland at the São Paulo Biennial.
In 1987, he represented Iceland in Scandinavian Art at the Seibu Museum in Tokyo, and in 1988, he participated in the Venice Biennale, once again representing Iceland.


On the occasion of his 50th birthday, Gunnar Örn recently held a major retrospective exhibition in Iceland.

He is represented in numerous museums in Iceland, including the National Gallery of Iceland. Gunnar Örn’s works are also part of many collections and can be found in major museums such as The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, The Seibu

Museum in Tokyo, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the National Museum in Stockholm.
