28.5 to 25.6.1999

The exhibition Home Sweet Home at Stalke Galleri presented parallel solo shows by Anja Franke and Marianne Hesselbjerg, connected by a shared focus on the private and domestic sphere. According to the review, Franke’s works examined the idea of home through schematic floor plans and spatial drawings that resemble minimalist compositions, linking interior design to personal identity and lived experience. Her approach treated the home as both a physical structure and a psychological space.

Marianne Hesselbjerg’s sculptural works addressed similar themes from a material perspective. Her bronze sculptures referenced bodily forms and furniture, creating objects that appeared both familiar and unsettling. The review described how the sculptures introduced a sense of tension between weight and fragility, memory and presence, and suggested a dialogue with historical sculptural traditions while remaining grounded in personal experience.

Together, the two exhibitions were described as complementary explorations of intimacy, memory, and domestic space, each artist approaching the subject through distinct yet resonant formal languages.
