Press Release

Eva Koch exhibits at Stalke Galleri from October 29 to November 19, 1999.

The exhibition consists of photographic works, a slide projection, and a video projection divided into three parts.

As in her recent exhibitions, Eva Koch continues her exploration of the journey as a state of being and an experiential space. On one side of the image is the artist as the recording subject; on the other side is the world and the things it consists of.

In two large photo montages, Eva Koch presents a conglomeration of snapshot images focusing on the small glimpses experienced during a journey and later stored in memory: landscapes, places, objects, and small details from the chaotic array of experiential fragments. The images are captured both during travels around the world and from the remnants of the past. Thus, the spaces of memory blend into a kaleidoscopic narrative.

The exhibition also includes a spatial installation where video footage is projected onto three walls. The room becomes an experiential space, entirely filled with simultaneous movements—a travel narrative.

Eva Koch recently participated in the first international biennial in England: TRACE at the Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art 1999  and will participate in November in the exhibition CLOSE UPS. This exhibition is organized by NIFCA and opens at the Nikolaj Exhibition Building on November 5, 1999.
