Press Release
Stalke Gallery invites you to an exhibition featuring works by Line Toftsø in the front gallery, Morten Tillitz, Aske Sigurd Kraul, and Albert Mertz in the back rooms. Additionally, a light installation by Olafur Eliasson will be exhibited in Stalke Cube.
Line Toftsø - Red Growth
Line Toftsø presents her main series, "Red Growth," consisting of drawings of red plants and flowers. These works explore themes such as femininity and time, using the flower as a symbol of beauty, fragility, and transience. Toftsø's works are created through the use of pen, hand, and fingers, which together create red traces. The repeated red growth allows for exploration and development in each individual work.
Aske Sigurd Kraul
In the exhibition "The Realities of Reality" by Aske Sigurd Kraul, our understanding of reality is explored. The installation on the floor consists of clay spheres arranged in a formation reminiscent of a solar system or the structure of an atom. On the walls, seven paper works are displayed, which, upon closer inspection, reveal reflective pigment planets where UV light uncovers the structures of the planets.
Through the works in the exhibition, a dialogue about and with the physical reality is sought, as a springboard to becoming conscious of experiencing the world. It is this consciousness that we all possess, which is the nature of reality and creates everything in the universe.
Morten Tillitz
Morten Tillitz exhibits a box installation with 23 squares, which relate to and engage in dialogue with the space. They are placed as if they were the self-evident conditions for furnishing the room. Additionally, he exhibits painting objects that lie between the recognizable and the abstract, with elements integrated in a collage-like form. All titles refer to a novel by Clarice Lispector.
Tillitz reuses material from earlier works, and brutality is incorporated here as a creative force. Although the works appear complete now, they may later be cut down to obscurity, leaving the material with traces of its history.
Albert Mertz and Olafur Eliasson
In addition to the three main artists, works by Albert Mertz from the Stalke Collection and a light work by Olafur Eliasson will be displayed.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, November 4, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and runs until December 1. There is also the possibility of visiting the gallery by appointment.
