LIFE IN THE FAST LANE
Jes Brinch
LOVE AND PAIN is an exhibition of Vu Thi Trang's paintings, which depict the situation of women in Vietnam. The paintings tell stories of violence, abuse, poverty, superstition, prostitution, corruption, love, and pain. Trang's paintings are simultaneously deeply serious and humorous, and all the stories told are based on real life.
LIFE IN THE FAST LANE is a series of marble sculptures by Jes Brinch, focusing on the use of cocaine. The sculptures portray a rock star, a designer, a ballet dancer, a journalist, a male stripper, a gallerist, two priests, and a family on coke. The inspiration for this sculpture series arose from a realization of how cocaine use has accelerated and become almost commonplace over the past 10 years. Additionally, an entirely new series of paintings will also be presented.
