Pizza Baker Had to Act as Taxi
Three freezing artists from Austria had to wait in vain for a taxi in Hvalsø and were instead brought to their destination by a pizza baker.
KIRKE SONNERUP: Three Austrian artists were literally left out in the cold last Saturday when they waited in vain for a taxi.
They came from Copenhagen, got off at Hvalsø Station, and were supposed to travel onward to Stalke Gallery in Kirke Sonnerup, where an opening reception was being held for a collection of their artworks.
However, there was no taxi in sight, and even the attempts to get help from locals failed. After a long wait for a taxi, the artists ended up stranded at Hvalsø Station late into the evening
.
Thus stranded at the station, they decided to approach a pizza place nearby for help. After some negotiation, they managed to get a ride to Kirke Sonnerup in the pizza baker's car, who brought them to the gallery just in time for the event.
The exhibition at Stalke Gallery is titled "MultiAnima" and aims to visualize and explore different forms of life.
One can, for instance, explore different density installations, video works, and sculptures that tell stories of various life forms and focus on the physical and social frameworks of existence.
A series of advertising figures, so-called "Brand Ladies," have been integrated into the show, reflecting modern society and featuring brand names such as Carlsberg, Novo Nordisk, and B&O. The boundaries between reality and the imagined are also explored in the exhibition.
It was the artists’ first visit to Stalke Gallery for the opening of this exhibition. The Austrian artists had been invited to show their works, created over the last 2-3 months during their residency in Copenhagen.
The residency was funded by the Austrian Arts Council, giving them the opportunity to exhibit their works, which include installations, sculptures, and video art.
Stalke Gallery had invited six female artists from Austria to participate in the exhibition, focusing on life forms and the meaning of life in modern society.
The pizza baker thought it was exciting to help and was happy to take them back to Hvalsø to tend to his pizza shop afterward.
