Stalke Galleri
Kirke Sonnerup
10.9 to 21.10.2005
Photo Exhibition at Stalke Galleri Kirke Sonnerup
Stalke Galleri presented photographic works by 17 artists from September 10 to October 21, 2005. The artists were selected across generations and were all active in the international art scene, working with photography in different ways. The exhibition examined the concepts of “reality” and “real life,” exploring photography as an objective depiction of reality.
Photography as a medium was described as a window to the world, opened for the viewer by the photographer. At the same time, it was shaped by the artist’s individual perspective and filtered through the camera lens. The works in the exhibition did not use photography as pure documentation of reality, but rather as a representation of it. Since the early 1990s, photography had been one of the most prominent media in the international art scene, and the gallery was especially proud to have hosted one of the first exhibitions of this kind in Denmark outside the major cities.
Sam Jedig curated the exhibition and also made part of his private collection available. In addition, works were borrowed from Danish collectors as well as newly created works sourced directly from the artists. One of the primary goals of Stalke Galleri in Kirke Sonnerup was to present high-quality art outside Copenhagen through four major annual exhibitions. The gallery had an exhibition space of 300 m².
