Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson

Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson (b. 1948, Reykjavík) is an Icelandic photographer internationally recognized for his landscapes that transform nature and light into an almost abstract visual language. Educated in Iceland and later at the Christer Strömholm School of Photography in Stockholm, Sigurjónsson developed a distinct eye for rhythm, form, and color in the natural world.

In 2008, Stalke Galleri presented Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson’s first solo exhibition in Denmark. The show featured his characteristic aerial photographs of the Icelandic landscape in large-scale prints, creating a meditative and painterly experience of nature’s geometry and atmosphere.

Since then, Sigurjónsson has participated in several group exhibitions at Stalke Galleri and Stalke Out of Space, where his photographic work has been shown alongside conceptual and material-based contemporary art.

His publications, including Lost in Iceland, Amazing Iceland, and Earthward, have helped define the visual identity of modern Icelandic art and established him as one of the country’s most influential photographers.
