In 1998 Michaela Eichwald exhibited together with Ralf Schauff at Stalke Galleri in a large double exhibition, organized in collaboration with Daniel Buchholz from Cologne. The project marked an early encounter between the emerging German art scene and Stalke Galleri, but at the time it was largely overlooked by the public.
Eichwald’s works from this period were defined by a raw and experimental approach, combining painting, text, and unconventional materials. Her practice merged abstract surfaces, figuration, and references to everyday culture and literature, creating a distinctive and insistent visual language.
Since then, Michaela Eichwald has had an extensive international career and is today represented by Marian Goodman Gallery and has exhibited at institutions such as Kunsthalle Basel.
