Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen is a Danish-Filipino performance artist, known for works in video, song, sculpture, installation, and photography. Her practice addresses issues of identity, culture, religion, gender, and social relations – often with a critical and humorous approach.
She graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2002 and has since had solo exhibitions at venues such as the National Gallery of Denmark, Horsens Art Museum, Röda Sten Konsthall, and Middelheim Museum in Antwerp. In 2011 she represented Denmark at the Venice Biennale, and her works are included in major collections such as HEART, ARoS, and KIASMA in Helsinki.
Already early in her career, Cuenca Rasmussen exhibited at Stalke Galleri: her exhibition took place in 2000 together with Nikolaj Recke, followed by the curated anniversary show Stalke Out of Space: Project 30 (2001), and in 2002 she was part of the large-scale group exhibition 20 Years in Danish Art at Stalke Galleri. These presentations highlight the gallery’s role in her early career and entry into the Danish art scene.

Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen took part in the 10 Years Anniversary Exhibition at Stalke Out of Space, where her series Flying Carpets (2000) was presented. The works depict figures on flying carpets, rendered in a humorously naïve style yet with precise scenarios that point towards identity, travel, and imagination.
