Jørgen C. Lundgreen

Jørgen C. Lundgreen (1951–2004) was among the first artists to exhibit at Galleri Jedig when it opened in 1982. His early solo exhibitions at both Galleri Jedig and Galleri Nørregade — the gallery that later became Stalke Project — marked a decisive moment in the Danish crossover between visual art and popular culture.

Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under Eckhoff, Bøggild, and Wiig Hansen, Lundgreen combined classical craftsmanship with an experimental, often performative approach. Working across marble, clay, painting, and mixed media, he explored the tension between figuration and abstraction, beauty and disruption.

Originally known as a member of the pop group The Lollipops, Lundgreen brought a rare awareness of rhythm, surface, and cultural resonance into his art. His works from the 1980s show a fascination with the body, fragmentation, and the layered nature of image-making — a dialogue between sculpture, gesture, and pop sensibility.

Several of his works remain in the Stalke collection and were most recently presented in On View 17.
