eske-Kath

Eske Kath (b. 1975) first exhibited at Stalke Galleri in 2002 in a duo exhibition with Johan Nobell. The show presented paintings, collages, and sound sculptures exploring the boundaries between nature and culture, between construction and collapse. It marked the beginning of Kath’s ongoing investigation into the spatial and symbolic potential of the image – a balance between order and chaos that has since become central to his artistic practice.

The works from this period revolve around the relationship between surface and depth, control and rupture. Architectural structures appear both stable and fragile, serving as visual models for the human attempt to create meaning in an unstable world. This dual movement – between the rational and the emotional – forms the foundation of Kath’s later production.

In 2003, Kath also participated in the legendary Stalke Out of Space – 10 Year Celebration, curated by Tine Bundgaard, which brought together a generation of artists connected to Stalke Galleri in a wide-ranging exploration of space, context, and artistic dialogue.

Since then, Eske Kath has developed a distinctive visual language at the intersection of painting and installation, where natural forces and human constructions collide. His works address contemporary ecological and existential themes with both poetic sensitivity and analytical precision, and are represented in several major museum collections in Denmark and abroad.
