Jenny Watson (b. 1951, Melbourne) is a prominent Australian contemporary artist whose conceptual painting practice spans more than four decades. Inspired by both punk and feminism, she combines text, colour, fabric, recurring figures, and subtle humour into a distinctive narrative form. Her deliberately naïve style conceals an acerbic emotional precision, resulting in works that are at once raw, direct, and psychologically complex.

Watson has contributed to the ARTSTAMP project three times since her first invitation in 2012. In these works, she translates her characteristic visual and textual language into the miniature format of the stamp, creating intimate visual statements where the personal and the universal intersect. Using minimal yet charged imagery and fragmented text, her contributions articulate themes of memory, identity, and female self-representation.

Watson’s involvement extends the poetic and political scope of the ARTSTAMP project, adding a personal and reflective dimension that aligns her broader practice with questions of image, authorship, and the distribution of art. Her recurring participation reflects a long-standing collaboration with Stalke Gallery and an ability to condense complex artistic ideas into new and highly focused formats.
