Henrik Pryds Beck is a Danish sculptor, painter, and graphic artist who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1976. Since the 1970s, his artistic practice has spanned conceptual art, land art, painting, sculpture, and performance. During this period, he was one of the initiators of the artist collective Galleri 38, which became a central hub for avant-garde artists in Copenhagen.
In his early years, Pryds Beck was strongly influenced by Fluxus artist Arthur Köpcke, and in the 1980s he developed an expressive and figurative style that made him part of the Danish branch of the New Wild movement. His works often combine a powerful, spontaneous energy with a clear artistic reflection on contemporary social and political issues.
Henrik Pryds Beck has exhibited regularly at Stalke Galleri, both in solo shows and group exhibitions, and in 2010 he contributed to the project Artstamp.dk, creating a series of works that challenged the postage stamp as an artistic medium. His practice moves freely between experiment and tradition, underscoring his position as an important figure in Danish contemporary art over the past five decades.
